I have been practising yoga for over 15 years personally and decided I wanted to share my love of yoga with others and trained in multistyle yoga in Rishikesh, India. Yoga is different to other forms of exercise in that it is a ‘mind-body’ experience and it is non-competitive. I incorporate spirituality and Ayurveda into my classes and emphasise pranayama (breathing) and meditation. I truly believe yoga is for slowing down and ‘tuning in’. I like to ‘strip-back’ all the complexity and encourage students to concentrate on the fundamentals of yogic postures, using their bodies to create movement, space to breathe and balance, and trying to connect the mind, body and breath through yogic union. In a busy life, the hardest challenge can be sitting or standing. Or just being still.
